Get Ready for Race Day!

by | Jan 19, 2021

It’s been a while since I have posted. I am still finding my feet with our new baby and adjusting as a family of five. It has been a tremendous blessing, but as you can imagine, quite a busy time.

One thing that I have learned is that I cannot write without the Lord doing it through me! I am completely dependent on His leading since the purpose of this blog is to release Rhema words.

I’m also excited to announce the launch of my husband’s training and equipping course SPIRIT-GYM. The focus of this course is to get the body ‘harvest-ready’ and to get individuals trained to walk in their callings. You can get more info on the website at www.spirit-gym.com. Registration is open for one week only from the 1st to the 7th of February 2021. Don’t miss this opportunity!

While contemplating what the Lord wants me to write, the Spirit revealed the word limbo to my husband. The definition of the word limbo is: an uncertain situation that you cannot control and in which there is no progress (dictionary.cambridge.org).

As soon as I read the definition, I understood exactly where we as the Body of Christ are right now! We are in a state of limbo. An uncertain time where we need to WAIT on the Lord for instruction, but also where we need to start executing on what the Lord already revealed but we are unsure off.

As we are in this state of limbo, being very unsure what the world will look like in 2021, we need to be in this place of waiting and beginning to move. It is a place of STRATEGIC SILENCE and MOVING by FAITH.

It will require us to both wait on the Lord in silence and slowly starting to do what He already told us. If you feel like you don’t hear anything from the Lord, wait. If you feel you heard something but you are unsure, move by faith.

When the time is ready the Lord will whisper greater strategy into our inner ears. But only those who have waited on the Lord and who have been obedient with what He already said, they will be able to hear the strategy for 2021.

One thing my husband keeps hearing is: “start moving into the streets”. I believe this is the warm-up part. Whatever the greater strategy, I believe it has to do with bringing in the harvest.

We need to clearly differentiate between waiting upon the Lord and being paralysed. I am sensing a lot of Christians are currently feeling paralysed because of these unsure times we are facing. We are called to press into the presence of the Lord and wait upon Him, and as His Word promises us, He will renew our strength.

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”

~ Isaiah 40:31

Get Ready!

I received a word from a fellow believer a few weeks ago that blessed me tremendously. It was such a timely and spot-on word. I realised that this word was not only for me as an individual but is a revelation for the entire body of Christ.

In competitive sports, there is a time of resting before a big match or race, where no training takes place. During this time the athletes must rest and allow their bodies to be prepared for race day. There is not much they can do. Further exercise beyond a certain point will not be beneficial but will only harm their bodies. They need to rest. All the training and exercise has been done. They need to rest and prepare themselves mentally for the big day.

This word the fellow believer gave me is that we are in that time right now. That is what spiritual limbo is all about. 2020 was known as the year of preparation. 2020 has equipped and trained us. We had to endure difficulties and withstand testing, trials, and tribulations. Our faith has been strengthened.

I was an athlete myself. I remember always wondering if I have trained well enough and if I was ready to give my best on race day. The truth is that you never feel completely ready. You always think you could have trained harder. But it is essential to take a few days off before the race otherwise you will overburden yourself and will not be able to give your best. You have to TRUST that you are ready, whether you feel like it or not.

The same is true for our spiritual training and especially now in this state of limbo, where no one is sure what will happen next.

I want to emphasize again, that this time of waiting on the Lord is NOT to be a time where we are passive and complacent. We need to stay in tune with the Spirit and be in a state of warming up. Just like the athletes don’t do intense training just before the big race, they are, however, warming up. Their minds are focused and they physically warm their bodies up to be ready.  The same is true for us. We cannot lose focus in these crucial times.

But unlike physical sports, we have the best coach – Holy Spirit as our personal trainer! We have to TRUST that God is preparing us, that He is making us ready for what lies ahead. Especially in difficult seasons where we do not hear His voice as clearly as we are used to. Surrender and waiting are key ingredients for the times we are currently facing.

Strengthened by Joy
If you were to participate in one of the biggest sports events, maybe the Olympic games. What would you do if you knew the outcome beforehand, that you are already the winner? All you have to do is pitch up and give your best?

My husband shared this with me and his answer hit it home for me. He said, “I will enjoy it!” Amen on that! God wants us to ENJOY what is coming in 2021 and beyond. It sure won’t be easy, but Isaiah 60 states that when darkness covers the earth, and deep darkness the people, the Lord will arise over us, and His glory will be seen upon us. (Isaiah 60:2)

The Church is called to SHINE in this hour. To be the light that the unbelievers will be drawn to. To be a beacon of HOPE in a hopeless world.

The biggest strategy of the enemy in this hour is to remove hope from the earth, worse even, he plans to remove hope from the heart of the believers. We need to counter this attack and fix our eyes even more on the Lord Jesus, and follow His example as it is written in Hebrews 12: 1-2:

“Therefore, we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Our JOY is that we receive Christ as our inheritance! And the best part is that we already KNOW the outcome of this race! We need to keep our focus on the imperishable crown. The moment we take our eyes off from our source of JOY and HOPE, the Lord Jesus, we will face much more difficulties. It will become unbearable. Do not look at what is going on in the world, the perishable realm, but lock eyes with your bridegroom!

“And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.”
