Casting the Lord’s Presence Over Your Problems

This blog post is somewhat of a follow up on the previous blog post: An Urgent Word: PUSHBACK!!!

I promised that my husband will share a bit of his experience with a “higher truth” namely how to cast the Lord’s presence on your problems or attacks until it is resolved in His presence.

This is that blog post. Over to Gideon:

Warning!
I want to issue a warning upfront: this isn’t a quick four-step process. You have to build up your spiritual capacity gradually. You have to put in the time to learn how to do this.

Although it’s a very simple process it isn’t necessarily easy. It’s simple to lift a heavy weight, but you need the capacity to do so.

This process takes time to learn. Please do not continue with the next step in this process if you haven’t built significant capacity with the previous steps.

Stage Zero, Building on the Right Foundation.
Make sure you know the presence of the right Jesus. Paul outlines the way of salvation in Romans 10. He says:

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? …”

~ Rom 10:14-15 NKJV

This is very important. My point in quoting this scripture is this: If you haven’t heard the right gospel, how then can you believe in the right Jesus? What do I mean?

Paul speaks in 2 Corinthians 11:4 of the possibility of another Jesus being preached, which leads to receiving a different spirit and believing in a different gospel.

Many Christians today haven’t received the right or the full gospel. They are saved into a prosperity gospel, Santa Clause type Jesus that just want to bless them, make them happy and make their life work.

This is not the Jesus of the Bible that says: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me… (Mat 16:24)”. In the world you will have tribulation (Jo 16:33). And, through His Apostle Paul: “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory (2 Co 4:17).

The following stages in this process are dangerous if you don’t know your Bible and don’t know the Jesus of the Bible.

If you are a new believer this process is not for you (yet). Please first take the time to get to know the Jesus of the Bible.

If you have been saved some time but you don’t know scripture well enough rather take the time to familiarise yourself with scripture before you continue.

First, Learn to Super Focus on the Lord’s Presence.
This stage presupposes that you know how to enter into God’s presence. Actually, we are already in His presence (Act 17:28; Rom 10:8; Eph 2:6). We just have to learn how to become consciously aware of His presence.

What works for you? Putting on worship music and singing along? Praying? Meditating on scripture? Use what already works for you and try to use it as a way to “get into” the Lord’s presence.

Use whatever works for you to become aware, but then learn how to stay in this atmosphere of awareness without the “props”.

How would that look? Say you are singing to a song. When you have become aware of His presence, slowly turn down the volume and just stay focused on Him. It helps to continue to say a few words of adoration to the Lord: “Lord Jesus, I love you. Lord, you are good. You are beautiful Lord….”

Now become silent, still keeping your focus and awareness on Him. Keep silently gazing at the Lord in adoration. Stretch yourself to keep doing this for longer periods at a time each time you practise this.

How to Overcome Distraction?
The best way to deal with distraction is to not give much attention to it. You have probably heard the example: “Don’t think of a pink elephant. What did you just think of? Yes, a pink elephant”.

The more you try to fight the distraction the more it will just absorb you. So, what do you do? You treat it as an old friend, that you are very comfortable with, coming to visit you.

You tell this “old friend” that they can sit next to you and chat away, but you are busy with something else and you are not going to give much attention to them. This sounds counter-intuitive, but what you are doing is, you are making “the issue” a non-issue.

What do I mean? You are treating the distraction as something small and insignificant. This causes it to lose its power. When you fight it, you are actually making it big and powerful in your mind. When you get comfortable with it, it becomes small in your mind and it releases you to focus on the Lord. It will still be there, but it won’t be an issue.

The more you train your mind this way, the less distraction there will be and the more you will be able to focus on the Lord in any situation regardless of distraction.

Second, Learn to Rest in and Enjoy the Lord’s Presence.
This sounds easier than it really is. There was a season in my life where my goal was to spend time with the Lord like this for three hours a day. After about six months of doing this, I only did the three hours successfully for about a handful of days.

During this time, I repeatedly heard the phrase: “learn to become a happy prisoner” in my spirit. This was probably the most important lesson the Lord taught me.

While you are resting in and enjoying the Lord’s presence, your flesh isn’t happy at all. There is such a paradox in this state of being.

Your spirit man is enjoying this so much and it feels like you want to explode from God’s fullness, love and joy. While at the same time your flesh is rebelling and objecting to every second it has to endure this torture.

Your flesh feels trapped. Imprisoned! It tries to convince you that this is a waste of time. It wants you to go and check your phone to see what time it is, if you haven’t received a message or if someone isn’t maybe “urgently” looking for you.

You have to essentially learn how to be happy on the one end while feeling trapped on the other end. You have to become a happy prisoner.

Third, Learn to Stay Longer and Abide in His Presence.
Most of what I said above also applies to this point. What I would add here is, now you should learn to stay aware during the whole day. It won’t necessarily be as intense as when you have your focused time with the Lord but you will still be aware of His presence.

A mistake we make in our relationship with the Lord is to compartmentalise our lives. When we stand up from our time with the Lord in the mornings it’s like we make a mental switch: “Lord, your time is up, now it’s my time”. We don’t consciously say this but this is actually the attitude of our hearts.

This is our flesh trying to gain control again. To escape its prison. You don’t have to let your flesh out! Learn to keep this awareness during your day. A great resource to gain inspiration and to learn how to do this is a book by Brother Lawrence: “The Practice of the Presence of God.”

Fourth, Learn to Cast His Presence unto a Situation.
Now finally the last stage in this process. If you have learned to cultivate an awareness of God’s presence in your daily life, then you can start learning how to cast His presence.

What is casting His presence? His presence is like light flooding your heart. You can now learn how to reflect His light unto a situation. There are two ways of doing this.

Communing His presence.
The first way is to commune His presence. Communing is deeper than communication. Communication is done with words; communing is done as a spiritual transfer.

2 Corinthians 13:14 speak of “the communion of the Holy Spirit”. This is to fellowship with the Lord: to draw from the Lord’s presence through the person of the Holy Spirit. It’s what you have learned to do so far. To sit, receive and enjoy an infilling of God’s presence.

Now you simply commune His presence (the flowing river of the Holy Spirit) to someone or something else. Send it in in a direction. How do you do this? This is covered further down under the heading “The Key of Faith and Prayer”.

Taking your Situation into His Presence.
The second way is to take your situation into the Lord’s presence. In the Old Testament, we have a wonderful symbol pointing to this principle. The Priestly Breastplate.

The high priest would wear this breastplate when he enters God’s presence once a year to make intercession for the children of Israel on the day of atonement.

This breastplate had twelve stones on, representing the twelve tribes of Israel. He was symbolically carrying Israel on his heart before the Lord.

This is the highest form of intercession. It is interesting, my wife is now busy reading the book “Rees Howells: Intercessor”. These are basically the same principles the Lord has taught him.

He speaks of abiding for someone else. It’s literally like you are spending time on behalf of someone else while the Lord’s presence starts working in their lives.

There is no concept of time and space in the spirit realm. When you hold someone or some situation in your heart before the Lord like this, His presence is literally cast over that person or situation.

My wife mentioned how she was struggling with an attack in the previous blog post. I must admit I don’t use this as often as I probably should. But I have learned a valuable lesson.

Charmaine was struggling with this attack on her mind for a few days. I assumed that she is as “proficient” in this as I am and I just told her what to do. She was still struggling a bit, so I decided to just do it on her behalf.

It wasn’t 10min when she looked at me and asked: “What did you just do, I felt it lift”. I’m being vulnerable by writing about this. I have never really taught on this subject, publicly, but I believe it’s time for the body to start moving in these higher truths.

So here is exactly what I did, and what went on in my heart as I did it:

I held Charmaine’s mind in the Lord’s presence. I pressed in deeper so that I could sense in the Lord’s presence by the unveiling and exposing power of His presence what the cause of the problem was. This is not always necessary.

Most often than not The Lord’s presence will just dissolve or resolve the issue. Where His light is, darkness must flee. Where His healing power is present, heartbreak or physical sickness gets minister to.

The Lord and His presence in the situation are in total control. Your job is just to hold the situation there by your intercession.

This is on a need to know bases. If the Lord needs you to know something, He will let you know. If you need to repent for something, His light will show it to you. If you have to pray something specific, His light will reveal it to you. But most of the time the Lord just needs you to hold this situation in His presence so that His glory can work on the situation until it is resolved.

The Key of Faith and Prayer
So, to put a finer point on it. How exactly do you do this? Simply by faith and prayer. What does that mean?

In the Greek, the word prayer when broken down actually means, desire towards. To pray means to put your desire towards God. You do all this by desiring it from Him in prayer. His presence (Holy Spirit) might communicate a stop or go ahead in your heart. Listen to these promptings. Don’t do things that you can’t feel God’s peace on.

This once again presupposes that You are familiar with the awareness of His presence. The presence of the Jesus of the Bible. He will not lead you into things contrary to His Word.

In all this we need faith. Faith is not something you work up. It’s to simply trust God, to do what He says He will do and to believe that He is who He says He is in His word.

In closing. If you are looking for additional resources that can help you go deeper with the Lord, I suggest you read three books. I suggest you read them together. It is “Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ” by Jeanne Guyon; “The Normal Christian Life” by Watchman Nee and “The Practice of the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence.

Most people miss the depth and richest in “The Normal Christian Life” because they read it to gain head knowledge rather than to gain experiential knowledge. Therefore, I suggest you read “The Normal Christian Life” in the way and “spirit” of “Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ”.

When read and applied correctly “The Normal Christian Life” will help you overcome most issues in your life. “The Practice of the Presence of God”, serves as both motivation and practical tips on your journey.

May you grow deeper in the Lord.

An Urgent Word: PUSHBACK!!!

I feel an urgency to release this short word. Last night I clearly heard the word PUSHBACK in the spirit. It came as an URGENT INSTRUCTION – we need to pushback against the wiles of the enemy in this hour. This pushback requires immediate obedience!

This week has been extremely difficult on many levels. I thought I was fighting my own battles but I started hearing other Christians complaining about the same things. Last night I felt the heaviness again and all of a sudden, I heard Holy Spirit whisper that there has been a release of extreme dark forces upon the earth – we need to pushback!

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

~ 1 Peter 5:8

Focus on JESUS!
It is of utmost importance to stay focused on Jesus. Do not take your eyes off the Lord. Our strength comes from Him! Although the enemy is taking out stronger weapons and he is using different tactics to ensnare us, scripture tells us what to do:

“Submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

~ James 4:7

People tend to misinterpret this verse. Satan is expert at drawing us away from the Lord’s presence to get us to fight him. You can’t resist satan on his terms. You will live in constant defeat.

Resist in this verse doesn’t mean fight. Old tactics of spiritual warfare are just not going to cut it anymore (not that it ever really has). Only those who learn to abide will be able to persevere.

If satan attacks you with pride, for instance, you submit to the humility of Christ. You behold the Humble One Himself. You bask in His presence and you resist satan’s pride by pressing deeper into Christ’ humility.

Satan will try harder to get you out, with more pride. RESIST! Resist the urge to give in and accept satan’s thoughts as your own. RESIST! Take every thought captive (2 Co 10:5): Quote scripture out load that says the direct opposite (Mat 4:1-11). Praise the Lord and thank Him with those truths in direct opposition.

The Release of Higher Truths
While me and my husband were praying about how the Lord is instructing us to pushback, I heard the Lord say that while the enemy is taking out stronger weapons, HE will teach the remnant new tactics!

These are HIGHER TRUTHS and NEW WEAPONS that will be released. Although these truths have been available to us all along, only a few people in the past have accessed them. Only those in centuries passed who pressed in and went higher could taste these mysteries.

These higher truths and mysteries have been preserved for the last hour and it will be unveiled for those who faithfully abide in His presence.

Do not fight, but FEAST!
An example of a higher truth is to stop fighting and start feasting. Psalm 23 says “He sets a table before us in the presence of our enemies” Our weapon is feasting in and on the presence of the Lord.

Another one of these higher truths that the Lord has taught my husband is to cast the Lord’s presence on your problems or attacks until it is resolved in His presence. My husband will share this in a blog post sometime this week (so be sure to subscribe so you won’t miss out on that).

Immediate Obedience
Do not allow the enemy to keep you out of the Father’s presence. Be sure to pushback by coming in the opposite spirit through worship, proclaiming scriptures, praying in the spirit or in whatever way the Lord leads you.

The longer we allow the enemy to linger on our doorstep, the more ground he will gain and the harder it will be to get the effects of his defilement out of us.

The Spirit reminded me of my dream Winds of Resistance Against Faithful Witnesses and of the Lion of Judah watching over us! We are surely building muscle capacity by pushing forward against this strong wind!

For our weapons of warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ

~ 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

The Key of Greater Dependence (Part 2)

Be sure to read Part 1 before you continue reading Part 2…

Elijah Arise!
A few days after I had this dream (See Part 1) the Lord woke me up one morning with a clear word in my spirit: “Like Elijah you need to be fed twice”. I immediately understood that God is instructing us to ask Him to feed us a double portion for the coming second storm.

In 1 Kings 19:1-8 we read the story of how Elijah fled from Jezebel. This was after she threatened to kill Him in the same way he killed the prophets of Baal.

After he left his servant in Beersheba, we read:

“But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said, “It is enough! Now, Lord, take my life, for I am no better than my fathers!” Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.” Then he looked, and there by his head was a cake baked on coals, and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and lay down again. And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.” So he arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God.”

~ 1 Kings 19:4-8

ARISE AND EAT, THE JOURNEY IS TOO GREAT FOR YOU
During this time of transition, Elijah’s greatest enemy was fear and depression. Fear paralysed him as he lay under the broom tree. He wanted to die. He believed that he had failed God.

God saw Elijah at his weakest point and sent him food, supernaturally prepared by an angel.

He had to be fed twice, for the forty-day journey into the wilderness was too great for him. Forty days symbolises a time of testing. Elijah was in great dependence upon the Lord to sustain him for this journey.

We should not allow fear and fear of failure to overtake us in these TIMES of transition and testing. God is making a way out – He will send supernatural provision our way. You should ask God to feed you twice!

We need a DOUBLE PORTION of revelation in this hour. We need to know who our God is, what He has promised and what He is able to do for us! We need to prayerfully study and meditate on Scripture! Now is the time to eat God’s Word!

Discerning His Whispers
After the 40-day journey, Elijah had an encounter with God. God revealed Himself to Elijah in a still small voice (1 Ki 19: 11 -13).

After a great and strong wind, an earthquake and fire, God chose a gentle whisper to reveal himself to Elijah. God will take us through a time of testing to bring us to a place of stillness and draw us deeper into His presence.

The purpose of the testing is to teach us to hear His whispers. Discerning His whispers is crucial for the times we are moving in as mass deception will be released upon the earth. Our ears need to be circumcised to hear His whispers amid the coming turmoil and deception.

Time of Testing Followed by New Assignments
Elijah was catapulted into new assignments after he endured the forty-day journey. After the coming second storm, God will release greater authority upon His remnant bride.

This authority will only be gained by learning greater dependence upon God. Strength and power will be gained through surrender.

Only those who are fed by and whose ears are circumcised by the Word of God will hear His whispers and walk in this greater authority for the new assignments.

“To whom shall I speak and give warning, That they may hear? Indeed their ear is uncircumcised, And they cannot give heed. Behold, the word of the Lord is a reproach to them; They have no delight in it.”

~ Jeremiah 6:10

The Key of Greater Dependence (Part 1)

The Key of Greater Dependence (Part 1)

God is about to and already is, giving the body of Christ ample opportunity to learn greater dependence. Are we going to learn now and be prepared for what is coming? Or, are we going to try to survive by our own plans and efforts, and by relying on man-made systems?

Dream: The second storm is greater than the first.
About a month ago I had a dream that took me some time to ponder and pray over. In this dream me and my husband were on the ocean travelling from England to South Africa on a rowboat.

There was a big storm up ahead we had to pass through. Initially, we were a bit fearful but the stormy weather opened up supernaturally. Almost like the opening of the red sea.

We rowed through with ease and arrived at the coastline of South Africa safely. I felt confident as I thought to myself: “we can do this again”.

I then dreamt that we had to go on a second trip: from South Africa to America. This time we had a bigger boat. It had an engine and storage space for food.

We ended up in a massive storm. It was so great that we could not see how we would survive. We had no hope. I went and lay down with our children as I was thinking to myself: “we are going to die in this storm”.

In the dream, I woke up the next morning and the ocean was completely calm. I was surprised that we survived this great storm.

Interpretation:
Little storms require little faith and little dependence. Greater storms require greater faith and greater dependence.

The boat in this dream is symbolic of our faith (1 Tim 1:19). Travelling first from England to South Africa and then from South Africa to America has to do with the time zone difference.

“THE TIMES ARE CHANGING”.
Between England and South Africa there is only a two-hour time difference. Between South Africa and America there is a massive eight-hour time difference.

We are all now experiencing how the times are changing. “THE NEW NORMAL”, is a buzz word being thrown around a lot these days.

In this first storm, the times have changed a little. It is going to change A LOT in this coming storm. We will need “greater faith”, a “prayer engine” behind us, and our “storeroom” will have to be full!

Firstly, we must learn to trust God more. The more you trust Him, the greater your faith (boat) becomes.

Secondly, your prayer life needs to become a priority. Prayer is the engine that drives your faith by running on the fuel of the Spirit.

Thirdly, we will have to stock up on spiritual food: The Word of God (1 Pe 2:2; Heb 5:12-14) and The Revelation of Jesus Christ (Mat 16: 15-18; Jn 6:55-58).

Put No Confidence in The Flesh
In the first storm I was confident: “we can do this again”. Philippians 3:3 reveals that a believer should “…have no confidence in the flesh”.

Rowing in this first storm speaks of self-effort and little dependence on God.

God knows that in this first storm we have little faith and He is being somewhat accommodative towards us. In spite of our self-effort, He is opening up the storm for us.

Faith and Trust is: “THE NEW NORMAL” for Believers
But NOW, we will have to use every opportunity to develop greater faith and dependence. In the second storm, I gave up. I didn’t do anything, but instead went to: “rest in faith”.

I had greater faith and I went into greater dependence by just resting in the faith that God already worked in me.

Faith and effort are in direct opposition. Faith’s focus is on God and what He wants to and can do. Effort’s focus is on self and what I can or “need” to do.

Exhortation: Trust God, Rather than Yourself and the World
We have to be careful not to waste our opportunities to learn to trust God. Trust God with your finances rather than using your credit card or running to the bank.

God is still somewhat accommodative, but a time is coming where you won’t survive spiritually if you depend on your own plans and efforts or on man-made systems and solutions.

Jesus could sleep through the storm because He knew who His Father was and who He was to His Father. May we rest in confident trust that God meant what He said in His Word!

“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
~ (Matthew 6:26-34 NKJV)

The Key of Greater Dependence to be continued in Part 2 next week…

Winds of Resistance Against Faithful Witnesses

I had a dream symbolising what is now happening to those who are committed to run this great race of faith without compromise.

Dream
In my dream, I was running the 400m nationals. I saw my father, my mother and my one brother (whose name means lion) in the audience. I was running in lane 8, unenthusiastically referred to as the ‘blind lane’ because you can’t see the other competitors. You are running in front making it difficult to pace yourself against the other athletes.

As we got into the back straight there was an extremely strong wind from the front. It was so strong making it almost impossible to run. As I was pushing forward my legs was burning of fatigue. I wondered how the other athletes were coping and looked behind me to see how all of them were struggling to run against this strong wind. Some even got out of their lanes in a desperate attempt to make progress against this wind.

I knew I had to keep on running although it seemed impossible. As I got to the turn, I felt completely exhausted. Upon entering the front straight, the wind now behind me, I saw that the last 100m was packed with hurdles. Now I had to jump over these hurdles if I was going to finish this race.

Interpretation
Those who have set themselves to uncompromisingly uphold the truth of scripture and follow their resurrected Lord will now start experiencing extreme winds of resistance.

We are entering a phase of resistance followed by a phase of potential stumbling blocks in this great race of faith. First, we will experience fierce opposition against our faith, then the world will create situations on our way to try to get us to compromise our faith.

Take Courage
The Father (symbolised by my father) the Holy Spirit (symbolised by my mother) and the Lion of the tribe of Judah (symbolised by my brother) is watching over us and cheering us on.

Jesus as the lion is present to impart boldness and courage so that we can face what is ahead. In these winds the enemy will whisper in our ears: “You cannot do this, the resistance is too strong for you, give up…” But “…If God is for us, who can be against us (Rom 8:31 NKJV)?

The Forerunners
The forerunners are called to run in lane eight. Many have prophesied about the nameless faceless generation. Those who have previously flown under the radar and aren’t well known. They occupy lane 8 as it is given to the person with the slowest qualifying time.

Wisely they have prepared themselves and have saved their energy with the final race in mind. They are the ones who will run in front and blind: they will “…walk by faith, not by sight (2 Cor 5:7 NKJV).”.

They will break open new roads few have travelled before. They will set the pace for the rest to follow and they will be an example for the others of how to run in this new season.

A Warning!
There is also a stern warning to those who are tempted to get out of their lanes by adjusting the truth in their attempt to cope with this opposition.

In a natural race, you are disqualified if you don’t keep in your lane. But in this spiritual race, it will make you more likely to compromise your faith, stumble and fall further into the race.

Don’t Waste Opportunity to Prepare
The strong wind of resistance on the back straight will be used by God to build our faith muscles so that we will not compromise and fall over the obstacles in the front straight.

In the first straight, our faith will be vigorously opposed. In the last stretch, we will be actively persecuted. The former will be words of opposition. The latter will be actions of persecution.

We will be put in situations where we will have to choose between “peace and safety” (that is with the world) or to follow our LORD and suffer persecution.

Harvest?
Although the last stretch of the race is going to be riddled with potential stumbling blocks the wind will now be behind us. The wind of opposition will turn into a wind of support to propel us forward. In this time, many who have opposed us will now join us.

Finish Strong!
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing (James 1:2-4 NKJV).”

“…being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Phil 1:6 NKJV).”

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus (Phil 3:13-14 NKJV).”
